Three moms in the U.K. are making dolls that are nothing but run of the mill. The moms are attempting to create dolls that are representative of all children, including those with disabilities. After unsuccessfully attempting to get doll manufacturers to create more inclusive dolls, they decided to make some themselves.
They created Tinkerbelle – a doll with a cochlear implant or hearing aid. It became so popular that British-based toy developer MakieLab adopted the idea and started making plans to introduce a line of dolls with hearing and mobility aids.
Now the three moms are trying to expend on the idea and create more dolls that will bring joy to kids and parents – see some of their suggestions below.
