In an interview with CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, the Vermont senator and Democratic presidential candidate appealed to “angry” Americans frustrated by financial woes and concerned by foreign terrorism.
“What I’m suggesting is that what Trump has done with some success has taken that anger, taken those fears — which are legitimate — and converted them into anger against Mexicans, anger against Muslims,”
In an earlier interview with CNN Sanders said Donald Trump makes “bombastic” and “silly” remarks because they get media coverage — and he blamed the press for falling for Trump’s act:
“Trump is very smart, he knows the media’s not so interested in the serious issues facing this country. They love bombastic remarks. They love silly remarks… This is more of an indictment of the media, actually, than it is of Trump.”
