With the first half of the season in the books, there is only one way to describe the Bolts performance…DISAPPOINTING. But I prefer to see things as a “glass half-full” kind of person. At 4-4, the Chargers stand tied for 1st place in the AFC West. There is still alot of football to be played. But what we need is good football. The second half of the season is not going to get any easier. With that said, the Bolts need to get healthy, get LT involved more (he wasn’t the MVP last year for nothing) and just play SuperCharger football.
I have a hard time with Norv Turner trying to make Philip Rivers the superstar of the offense. That job already belongs to Mr. Tomlinson. Rivers was a much more effective QB with the “Trent Dilfer” approach. We don’t need him trying to do too much. Philip, please take this week to get rid of your case of “happy feet”. Yes, you were being pressured all day..I’ll give you that, but you made that Viking secondary look like they were AllPro. Think of those underthrown balls that had TD written all over them. You know the ones I’m talking about.
On the defensive side, let’s just put this 296-yard rushing performance behind us, and get back to the “YOU CAN’T RUN!” DEFENSE that gets Section 15 going. (Great Friends, represent!) I do want to take a minute to call out Drayton Florence. Quit being a jackass! Seriously man, don’t think you are flying under the radar. It was YOU that really cost us the playoff game last year with your headbutt…and you’ve sat back and let Marlon McCree take the heat for it. Nice cheapshot on Matt Schaub last week…tough guy. And this week you were swinging at a player? You are lucky CBS didn’t show the relplay, because Chargerhater Dan Dierdorf, would have been all over you..and let’s not forget you let that rookie Rice burn you like an unattended grilled cheese sandwich. Maybe you are feeling the heat of Antonio Cromartie coming on? He has been ballin’, hasn’t he?
Don’t get me wrong, Philip and Drayton, I know you guys bleed blue and gold, just like we do…I only vent because I care. I just want the Chargers to play like they are capable of playing, and unfortunately, these are the things that have stuck in my mind through the first 8 games.
Let’s finish strong, get in the playoffs, and get what we set out to do…get that Lombardi Trophy. Kick ass now…take names later. Charger Power!!!
