There are a couple key things I will be looking for this weekend from the man with the leather face. Yes, I am talking about the man who is currently holding the Chargers head coaching position…Norv Turner. I’m going to offer him some free advice…it’s not even advice…just a little common sense. So I will keep it simple:
1) Do not leave it up to Philip Rivers to win us the game. Use the Trent Dilfer approach. Have him manage game. Don’t try to do too much. Reading this is probably like nails on a chalkoard to a certain local sportstalk personality, from Philly. But like we’ve been told time and time again…It is what it is.
2)L-T-M-V-P…LT was the MVP for a reason. He’s the best, so use him. Run, catch, pass…whatever. Run the ball. Take a look at some game film from last year even. Don’t let LT be a decoy. Establish the run game, afterall we have a couple Pro Bowlers on our line. It was best said by Billy Ray Smith (The Scott & BR Show, XX Sports Radio), let the offensive line do their job. Let them beat up the other team. And it will wear the opponent down. LT will break loose. It will open up play-action and the passing game.
3)If Quentin Jammer is back, then start Antonio Cromartie on the opposite side of the field. Do not take a playmaker out of the game plan. We already seen what happened on the offensive side of the ball when that happens. Let’s face it, Florence will not be back next year, so let’s not do him any favors. I’m not against moving him to nickle or dimeback…But are you really going to take the NFL leader in interceptions off the field? I sure hope not.
We have a couple days left…so we’ll see what kind of coach Leatherface really is
