Before the Chargers had ran their fourth play from scrimmage, the Murph was overtaken by the unmistakeable sound of boos…and i don’t mean “booze” like the beer truck just rolled up. I mean the same sound that welcomed in a certain QB from the draft class of 2004. Unfortunately, that little statement can now apply to two people. Eli “Sucks” Manning. And our own Philip Rivers.
Let’s just call like it is. The jeers were 90% for Rivers and 10% for the play call. After a season of ups and downs, the Charger fans are sick and tired of the underachieving. When you had a 14-2 record (I swear this will be the first and only time I will bring up last year’s record), one of the best O-lines, the best FB, the best TE, the league’s reining MVP, even a ProBowl QB (that makes 7 of your starting 11, ProBowl guys)…what is the excuse for ever having a 3-and-out?
I’ll admit it, I was ABSOLUTELY joining in. And I directed it towards Rivers and the play calling. I think that I deserve to chip in my two cents…just like everyone else does…and did. I think Rivers knew the booing was meant for him, otherwise he wouldn’t have reacted the way he did. And did he respond like we all wanted him to? Three TDs and no turnovers. I’d say so. We all do it for the same reason. It’s kind like how when we were little, and our parents were about to give us a beat down… “I’m only doing this because I love you”. We all have such high hopes, and we just want the Chargers to take advantage of the team that we have RIGHT NOW. We do not want to be the “best team to not make the playoffs”. We don’t want LT to be how Barry Sanders was…the best player to not win a ring.
Watch out NFL, and watch out Chargerhaters… the storm is coming…ThurderBOLTS and Lighning. The Bolts WILL end the season 11-5. And we plan on cancelling everyone’s parades…The only parade that will be happening will be in the Gaslamp Quarter
