After costing BoltBuzz.com a 5-yard penalty, on a “false start” for posting that the Chargers were the AFC West Champions, our team came through and spared me from eating a nice helping of crow. So that means you did read it here first.
Where do I begin? For starters, the was a royal assbeating we all witnessed Sunday…from start to finish. It was a true showing of the difference between a real good team and a real bad team. Just look at how the game got started:
1st possession- Lions: 3&out, Chargers: TD
2nd possession- Lions: 3&out, Chargers: FG
3rd possession- Lions: INT, Chargers: TD
4th possession- Lions: INT, Chargers: FG
5t possession- Lions: INT (ran back for TD), Chargers: TD
In a win, in which everyone and their momma chipped in, it was just too hard to chose ONE player of the game. So it goes to EVERYONE. The Bolts really made it hard to write about just one thing that happened in the game. The things that stand out to me are:
- 51 points scored, not since San Diego St. vs BYU have I seen that many points put up on that scoreboard. The last time they scored 50 was in 1986.
-6 turnovers forced by the defense…5 INTs by 5 different players? The most notable being Antonio Cromartie’s 10th of the season. Cromartie just happened to have the fumble recovery also. Hey Cro…the Hilton Hawaiian Village called…they were confirming your stay in February.
= LT, 100+ yards, 2 TDs in the first half…Darren Sproles, 100+ yards, 2 TDs in the second half… The first time in team history that the Bolts have had two players rush for over 100 yards in the same game. The Chargers had a total of 274 rushing yards…13 shy of the team record set in 1963.
-Big hits….Brandon Siler on the opening kickoff and the lick Drayton Florence put on Kevin Jones…you know the one.
-Ballhogs…The Charger offense would have made Kobe Bryant proud. The Bolts had the ball for 41:32.
Just thinking of all these moments and memories from the game have tired me out. Almost as much as cheering during the game itself. Another season, another title…winning, it never gets old. The next step, is the next level. Charger fans, are you ready? Let’s roll!
P.S. Thanks Reebok, for changing the “Division Champions” hat to white…It’s a nice change, and the match our jerseys better than those black ones.
